In our monthly 'Yakety Yak' dinner and conversation series, we hear from individuals who have show exceptional leadership in the field of public and social innovation, corporate responsibility, social entrepreneurship or philanthropy. The evenings involve an interview with broadcaster Peter Thompson, followed by a facilitated discussion with a small invited audience of leaders from the public, private, community and academic sectors. June 2010 - Interview with Stephanie Alexander, food writer, former restaurateur, and founder of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation. 40.47 minutes View the video in larger format on UNSW-TV Stephanie developed the Kitchen Garden program in primary schools in an attempt to engage children in the fun and enjoyment of growing vegetables, cooking food and eating healthy meals together. She talks about her frustrations at previous interventions to change children's eating behaviour which were negative and cautionary. The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation is now successfully changing children's eating habits in 138 schools across Australia. |
